75 million children are missing out on an education.
Parliamentary
The Global Campaign for Education and Send My Friend to School are keen to work with Members of Parliament and Peers to raise greater awareness in Parliament of global education issues and to seek to influence the Government to prioritise its international education commitments.
Party Conference Fringe Events
The Global Campaign for Education hosted fringe events at the Liberal Democrat and Conservative Party conferences to increase our visibility and enable conversations with political leaders around education for all.
At these events we introduced the 1 GOAL campaign, which seeks to unite millions globally in support of education for all, in the run up to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
All Party Parliamentary Group
A priority in 2009 is to establish an All-Party Parliamentary Group on Education for All. It is hoped that the Group will seek to:
- Promote a greater understanding and awareness of how education is financed internationally, and to ensure quality and inclusion issues are at the forefront of this.
- Support DFID’s leadership in meeting the EFA agenda and to scrutinise and monitor the work of DFID in this respect.
- Work with parliamentarians and interested organisations to help promote and secure the aims of the Global Campaign for Education.
If you are a Parliamentarian and would like to register your interest in the APPG or to find out more about the Global Campaign for Education please contact Chris Brown, c.brown@nut.org.uk.
