Your Event

If you haven't signed up yet - click here for your FREE 1GOAL pack with posters, film and Teachers Guide.

Join us on 11th June – the first day of the World Cup finals in South Africa – to have a 1GOAL day in your school!

Even if you are unable to hold your event on 11th June, it will be just as valuable to hold it on a different day.

EVENT PREPARATION
    1. Get going. Decide what sort of 1GOAL event you would like to have and who you will involve.
    2. Get a VIP. You might like to invite a local footballer to help make your 1GOAL event really special. Or consider asking your local MP along. He or she could deliver your school’s supporter scarf to the Prime Minister in person and can help ensure that the government takes action to keep global promises on education for all.Click here for more information about involving your MP.
    3. Contact the media. Download our press pack for tips on contacting the media and customise the press release we have included. If you are planning something special you can email our Media Coordinator for help!
    4. Explore the issues. Your students can prepare by exploring the issues behind the global education crisis, which means that 72 million children are missing out on education. Take a look in our Teaching Resources section for case studies, films and lesson activities to find out more.
    MAKE A SCARF

Make a giant scarf for everyone to sign at your 1GOAL event.

Use the paper templates provided in the Teachers Guide to make a giant paper scarf. Or ask your students to each knit a section of an enormous knitted scarf. Click here for knitting ideas!

If you don't yet have a copy of the Teachers Guide you can order your FREE Schools Pack now.

    HOLD A 1GOAL EVENT

Hold a 1GOAL assembly or presentation to introduce everyone to the 1GOAL campaign. Click on the links below to download an assembly.

Ask everyone to show their support for 1GOAL and sign their names for those who can’t:

    • Add signatures to your school’s giant Supporter Scarf and remember to keep a count of how many signatures you have gathered
    • If you have made a knitted scarf put some backing fabric onto it and hand out fabric pens for everyone to use
    • Sign a paper scarf around the edges of students’ patterns and designs or on the reverse or you could add in extra blank panels for signatures

We’ve thought of a few more ideas that you might like to incorporate into your event:

    WHEN THE FINAL WHISTLE BLOWS...

At the end of the World Cup it’s time to remind global leaders of their education promise.

Here’s what you need to do to make 1GOAL count!
